Allergies may cause a runny nose (rhinitis), sneezing, itching, rashes, swelling or asthma. Allergic symptoms are usually treated with the following medications: Oral antihistamines Nasal antihistamines Decongestants Nasal sprays The medications only treat the manifestations of the disease and not the root. In addition, they cause side-effects such as dizziness, fatigue, insomnia, nervousness, dryness, and gastro-intestinal disturbance. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) includes Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture. TCM has been used to treat allergies for thousands of years.
